Digital collage · Archival giclée print · Sold unframed
Two photographs captured on the UK Devon coast during a storm. Hood slowed the shutter deliberately, chasing overexposure and blur over clarity. The composition plays with the wave patterns and diagonal angles, a departure from the flat horizons seen throughout Hood's other work.
Tempest was created during a year of significant personal growth. Facing, at times, what felt like internal storms. Created as a pair with Grounded, though Tempest works equally as a standalone composition.
Captured Spring 2019. Collaged in 2025.
Multiple photographs are layered and blended in this composition, repeated and transformed in Hood's signature collage process. After a shoot, Hood edits photographs in batches, then hand-groups images for each new collage. Sometimes returning to images years later. The collage process is manual: image layers, transparency, blending modes, marquee tool, and image transform tools are used within Photoshop.
