Images captured at the lava caves of Craters of the Moon, Idaho. Hood metered deliberately for the light at the cave entrance, leaving an abstract, floating shape as the primary subject. The piece plays with rock textures and diagonal angles.
Grounded was created during a year of significant personal growth, facing internal storms, and the grounding exercises that help carry us through them. Created to pair with Tempest, though Grounded works equally as a standalone composition.
Captured Fall 2021 · Collaged 2025
Multiple photographs are layered and blended in this composition, repeated and transformed in Hood's signature collage process. After a shoot, Hood edits photographs in batches, then hand-groups images for each new collage. Sometimes returning to images years later. The collage process is manual: image layers, transparency, blending modes, marquee tool, and image transform tools are used within Photoshop.
