Cut Trees

from $100.00

Multiple photographs of trees captured along a lakeside path in Muskoka, Ontario. Where bark was marked with paint to guide the way through a flat landscape where you can lose yourself entirely in the trees.

Nearly monochrome in life and in the image, the white, cream and black details of the bark are true to color, unaltered. Shot while nearly running through what turned out to be an unexpectedly mosquito-heavy portion of the path.

The composition is built on a crosshatch weaved pattern with the trees as subject, leaning into texture and removing any sense of place.

Created to pair with Granite.

Captured and Collaged 2025

Multiple photographs are layered and blended, repeated and transformed in Hood's signature collage process. After a shoot, Hood edits photographs in batches, then hand-groups images for each new collage. Sometimes returning to images years later. The collage process is manual: image layers, transparency, blending modes, marquee tool, and image transform tools are used within Photoshop.
